I loved dying Easter Eggs as a kid, but I have not kept up the tradition with my own kids since no one in our house is particularly fond of hard boiled eggs. We have tried the plastic ones meant for dying and decorating, but they take an awfully long time to absorb the dye and don’t look near as good as a real egg.
Last year I wanted something fun to do instead of dying eggs so I came up with the idea to cut out egg shapes from a pan of Rice Krispie treats and let the kids go to town decorating with colored icing, mini M&M’s and sprinkles. It was a relatively mess free with the icing tubes, and I loved seeing the kids get creative with their eggs.
This is a fun Easter activity and I was happy to find a way to decorate eggs that my kids were more then willing to gobble up!
