What’s this? An adult birthday party for once?!

FREE Printable Fortnite Valentine’s
My son has never been good about doing class Valentine’s. As my 6 year old daughter sat at the kitchen table happily writing hers out this weekend, I remembered back to all the whining and complaining that came with doing his at that age. I think it took us the good part of a week to actually made it through his entire class list.
Mickey Ear Ornaments (Take Two)
It has been quite a few years since I made my original Mickey Ball Ornaments and the post is still wildly popular at this time of year. I still love them mine and am always excited to put them on our Christmas tree year after year.

DIY Christmas Lights Advent Countdown
Today I have a bit of a holiday mash-up with my DIY Christmas Lights Advent Calendar made from plastic Easter eggs! With only a few extra craft supplies, you’ll be able to create this fun countdown for the holiday season.
A Princess Tea Party Playdate
My 6 year old is forever asking for playdates with her new friends from school. Admittedly I have not been the best at planning throughout the school year, so I had it in my summer plans to try and plan something special for her and a few close friends once school was out. When the opportunity came up to have two princesses from A Charmed Affair come to our house, I knew a Princess Tea Party would make the perfect playdate for Keira and the little girls from her kindergarten class.
An Equestria Girls Dance Party
My daughter turned 6 at the end of May and we celebrated at home with an Equestria Girls themed dance party. Keira had a My Little Pony themed party for her 4th birthday, so I will admit I was a bit disappointed when she asked me to plan another Pony themed party. Luckily I am not good at getting rid of things so I still had all the decorations from that party and was able to re-vamp a lot of the same ideas to make things feel new and exciting.
Keira loves singing and dancing, and a big part of why she loves the Equestria Girls is the music. I have downloaded a couple of the soundtracks and even find myself singing along to the catchy tunes when I am alone in the car. It only seemed natural to give the party theme and decorations a music themed spin.
A Moana Birthday Celebration
For my daughter’s 5th birthday we decided to deviate a bit from the typical birthday party. Instead of a big party with family and friends, we decided to have a small weekend away and celebrate with just our own immediate family of 4, plus my sister and her husband. My daughter loves hotels and loves swimming, so a weekend in Calgary with a stay at a family friendly hotel seemed the perfect way to celebrate her big day.
A Holiday Hot Cocoa & Coffee Bar
December 13 is National Hot Cocoa day and to celebrate I am sharing an easy Hot Cocoa & Coffee Bar I put out for our house guests last Holiday season.
For my Hot Cocoa & Coffee Bar, I decided to set everything up on the counter right beside our coffee maker. I wanted it to be easy to access, and for my guests to feel welcome to help themselves to a warm, festive drink at any time.
To put everything together, I began by gathering my Christmas mugs and a nice tray with a few glass jars and bottles. The coffee K-cups all went in a large glass vase and I wrapped my store-bought container of hot chocolate mix in some candy cane striped gift wrap to make it look pretty. My chalkboard Santa worked perfectly to decorate the space and urge everyone to “Grab a Cup, Warm Right Up”.
For my different stir-ins and toppings, I went with crushed candy canes, marshmallows, Skor bits and some Irish Cream for the adults. I also included some red and white striped paper straws for stirring, and small wrapped chocolates for an extra sweet treat. For an open house or party, a gift wrapped can of whipped cream would be another great addition.
The bar went over well with our guests and I loved having it available for my own morning drink throughout the Holiday Season. I really enjoyed the touch of peppermint flavour the crushed candy canes provided to my morning cup of coffee and my kids loved their cups of hot chocolate with the fun snowman shaped marshmallows I found in the food market at Ikea.
Pop Party
It has been very quiet here on my blog the past couple months. We got so busy camping, swimming and having fun with friends this summer that all plans for new posts kind of went to the wayside. One thing I knew I couldn’t skip out on planning, however, was our annual ice cream social with the neighbours. Continue reading “Pop Party”
