It has been far too long since I have posted, but I am very excited today to be sharing a different design project of sorts. I have decided to try my hand at creating my own Lego IDEAS based off their popular BrickHeadz product line. I love these quirky block shaped characters and knew the ever iconic Garden Gnome would lend themselves perfectly to being re-created in this brick format. Summer is fast upon us and one thing I want to work on during the break from school is the kids reading. They both love the routine we have gotten into of us reading to them each night, but I also want to help encourage their own reading progress. I have ordered some beginning levelled readers for my daughter and a few new chapter books that I thought would interest my son, then came up with a fun reward system that has them excited to read daily.
Today’s Disney parks friendly mommy daughter looks are inspired by The Little Mermaid.
I absolutely LOVE the Disney/Pixar movie Up. It makes me tear up every time, but it is one of the few movies I could actually watch over and over and never get sick of. Plus, it has a bulldog in it so that ‘s always a good thing in my books!
I wasn’t planning to do an Up inspired look for our Disney World trip, but I fell down a rabbit hole on one of my Aliexpress searches and came across this colorful statement necklace and earring set that I was immediately drawn to. My love for the necklace grew exponentially when I realized the colorful teardrop shaped beads were much like the enormous bouquet of colorful balloons in Up.
A wide selection of tutu’s and sparkly skirts have always been a staple in my 5 year old daughter’s wardrobe . Sometimes outfits are coordinated around the skirts, or often they are simply added on top of the outfit I have chosen for the day. Tutu’s are worn for almost any occasion or activity including school, birthday parties, bike riding, running through fountains or even hiking!
It is September so that means all things pumpkin spice are hitting the shelves! I do enjoy pumpkin spice, but I think the craze has gotten slightly out of hand. I normally try to glaze over the various new limited edition pumpkin spice flavored items, but when I spotted this in the liquor store flyer I was willing to make an exception:
It has been very quiet here on my blog the past couple months. We got so busy camping, swimming and having fun with friends this summer that all plans for new posts kind of went to the wayside. One thing I knew I couldn’t skip out on planning, however, was our annual ice cream social with the neighbours. Continue reading “Pop Party”
Summer is now upon us and I wanted to share some of our family’s favorite day trips in and around the Edmonton area. I love that there are so many great family friendly attractions just a short drive from our own house to get out and enjoy. Pack a cooler of snacks, some good walking shoes, and get ready for a fun adventure! Continue reading “8 Great Summer Daycations in and around Edmonton”
It should come as no surprise that one of the kids and I’s favorite stores is the Disney Store. Although there are two here in Edmonton, we don’t seem to get to the malls that often and that means the kids are always excited to spend a good chunk of time checking out the new merchandise and playing in store.
Several months ago I hit up the mall while the kids were in school, and just happened to walk by first thing as the Disney Store was doing a special store opening ceremony. I learned this is something they do daily and have been meaning to take the kids, so last week my daughter and I finally went to see what it was all about. She was still too young for the Lego Monthly Mini Build I had her brother signed up for that evening, so I figured this was something special her and I could do that day. This week we visited the Lego Store and I am excited to share that we came out with a fun free mini build and brand new Lego Batman Movie set that cost us next to nothing. Thanks to the Lego VIP program and monthly in-store events, there are two easy ways to get your hands on some FREE Lego at the Lego Store.
