Last week I made some delicious pumpkin dinner rolls for Thanksgiving dinner and ended up with a lot of pumpkin puree left over to use up. I made these delicious Pumpkin Spice Rice Krispie Squares and decided to use the final bit for a batch of this yummy smelling Pumpkin Spice Playdough.
My 3 year old is really into playdough lately so I was excited to try this recipe for her. She had fun helping me mix the ingredients together and she could barely wait for it to cool to begin playing playing with it with her assortment of playdough tools and cookie cutters.
For some extra Halloween themed fun, I put together a tray of accessories the kids could use to transform the dough into Jack-o-lanterns. I bought some googly eyes and cut green leaves and an assortment of black nose and mouth shapes from sheets of foam. I then twisted some green pipe cleaners into corkscrews to look like pumpkin vines and I provided cinnamon sticks to use as the pumpkin stems.
It was fun watching the kids come up with their Jack-o-lanterns and my husband and I even ended up getting in on the fun and making our own. Here’s a couple of our best creations:
This would be a fun idea for your next playdate or could make a nice little gift assembled together as a kit. The recipe makes a nice, soft dough and I love the addition of the pumpkin pie spices to lightly scent it.
