This week we visited the Lego Store and I am excited to share that we came out with a fun free mini build and brand new Lego Batman Movie set that cost us next to nothing. Thanks to the Lego VIP program and monthly in-store events, there are two easy ways to get your hands on some FREE Lego at the Lego Store.
We made the trip to our nearest Lego Store Location in Southgate Mall (Edmonton) on Wednesday evening because I had registered my son for February’s monthly mini build. Kids 6 and over can register for these events through the website and there is a fun new model each month to make and take home absolutely free of charge. It is a very popular event so it was busy when we arrived for our 6:40 time slot, but the staff were very welcoming and my son was soon busy building the adorable little raccoon.
Once Camden’s raccoon was all built, he got a new stamp in his Lego Passport and a bag to take everything home in. Included in the bag was a promotional poster for the new Lego Batman Movie as well as calendar handouts for all the store’s promotional events in both February and March. It looks like March’s build on the 7th and 8th is a platypus that will make an equally cute friend for our little raccoon.
A second reason for our trip to the Lego Store that evening was to redeem our VIP points. If you are not a Lego VIP member yet, it is free to sign up and will get access to VIP only events, as well as earn you 1 VIP Point for every $1 spent at the Lego Store or through the Lego Shop online. For every 100 points you acquire, you are given a $5 reward to spend in store. Visit the Lego website to learn more and register for your own card.
Thanks to my husband spoiling me with the Lego Cinderella Castle at Christmas, he had almost enough in free reward points to get the $16.99 CDN Lego Batman Movie set I had my eye on. It only ended up costing us just over $2 and the balloon emblazoned Joker and Batman figures are going to make the perfect cake topper for my son’s upcoming The Lego Batman Movie themed party.
Kids 6 and over can register for the FREE monthly build beginning at 9am EST on the 15th of the month before. Be sure to mark your calendar and get on the website first thing because the spots will fill up very quickly!
Thank you Lego for making it easy to help build our Lego collection!
