Earning Dollars for Disney with Dory

Earning Dollars for Disney _ Dory Sticker Reward Chart

About a month before Christmas I came across these behaviour sticker charts at Dollarama.  I had actually looked over them on previous trips to the store, but after a week of trying behaviour from both my children I grabbed two out of desperation.

5 Fun Things to do with Kids at Fort Edmonton Park

5 Fun things To Do With Kids At Fort Edmonton Park

There are so many great things to love about Fort Edmonton Park.  A  visit to Fort Edmonton Park is a must-do item on our yearly Summer Bucket List and after taking the kids for the past 4 years, I think I have gotten it down to a bit of an art.  I have come to know which attractions in the park will keep the kids entertained and happy, and how to make the best use of our day at this great City of Edmonton attraction. Friday Favorites: Three Little Words

Friday Favorites TitleOn Wednesday I did something I said I wasn’t going to do as a parent;  I let my son play hooky from school.  I had a chance to meet a friend and decided it wouldn’t be the end of the world if I let my son skip one day of Kindergarten to come along and play a round of minigolf with his sister and my friend’s son.  Hopefully this doesn’t bite me in the butt later down the road!

Since we were already out and about, we also decided to meet up with my husband for lunch.  We ended up with a bit of time to kill in between, so I decided to take a stroll through Chapters and finally check out the new American Girl section in the West Edmonton Mall store.

On our way out of the children’s section of the store, I happened upon this beautiful Finding Dory inspired book on the shelf of Staff Picks.  I was immediately drawn to Three Little Words because of the soft watercolors and beautiful imagery, and once I read the message inside I knew it was one I wanted to add to our collection.

10 Simple Treats to Bring & Share At School

With the school year rapidly drawing to a close, I thought I would compile a list of all the fun treats I came up with to send in for special holidays and birthday treats over the past 10 months.  I love the chance to get creative in the kitchen, so when the opportunity comes up to bring in a themed treat I am more then happy to sign up and bake up something new. Disney On Ice: It Pays to Be Prepared

Disney On Ice: Dare to Dream Review

Since a Disney trip is not in the cards for us this year, I decided to try and fill that void by booking us tickets to Disney on Ice: Dare to Dream.  After reading glowing reviews online and seeing by my 3 year olds reaction to the commercials for the show on Disney Junior, I knew we would all have a great time.  Continue reading “Disney On Ice: It Pays to Be Prepared”

Exploring Edmonton’s Ice Castle

Exploring Ice Castle's in Edmonton, Alberta

I admit I am not the best at getting my kids outside during the winter months.  Once the snow hits and the temperatures plummet below zero, I am more then happy to pay admission to the nearest indoor playground and happily sip my coffee in the warmth as the kids play.

This past Saturday the temperatures hovered close enough to the zero mark that we decided to embrace the cold and check out the Edmonton Ice Castle.  This spectacular frozen display is a man-built maze of icy castle walls built up in Hawrelak Park in the Edmonton River Valley. 8 Great New Books for our Holiday Collection

We are going on to the third year of our Christmas Advent book countdown.  This year Auntie is spoiling the kids with a Lego City Advent Calendar for my son and the Little People Advent Calendar for my daughter, but I still love the annual tradition of opening a nightly Christmas book to read. Giving Back Without Breaking The Bank: Operation Christmas Child

This week we are focusing our charitable efforts on a more global scale with the Operation Christmas Child Shoe Box program run by Samaritan’s Purse International Relief.  The church my daughter’s preschool is run out of collects these boxes every year, so it was very easy for me to grab two boxes to fill and bring back.  Annual collection week for all shoeboxes runs next week from November 16-22 so there is still time for you to fill a box and help make a huge difference in a child’s life.

The boxes are meant to be filled with a variety of toys, school supplies and toiletries.   They are shipped all across the world to children in third world countries who might not otherwise receive anything for Christmas.  The Operation Christmas Child site has great instructions on How To Pack a Shoebox, and I really love this expanded list of box-filling ideas from Passionate Penny Pincher.
