Easter Egg Decorating with Rice Krispie Treats

Easter Egg Decorating with Rice Krispie Treats

I loved dying Easter Eggs as a kid, but I have not kept up the tradition with my own kids since no one in our house is particularly fond of hard boiled eggs.  We have tried the plastic ones meant for dying and decorating, but they take an awfully long time to absorb the dye and don’t look near as good as a real egg. Marshmallow Bunny Treats

Marshmallow Bunny Rice Krispie Treats

One of my favourite treats at Easter are the bunny and chick shaped Marshmallow Peeps.  There is something about the bright colors and fun shapes that I love and reminds me of childhood. Continue reading “Marshmallow Bunny Treats”

3D Paper Easter Baskets

Today I am excited to share this quick little paper craft courtesy of my mom, Christine Wolzl.  These simple paper baskets would be a fun little craft to do with kids and are so easy to customize using your favourite color or patterned paper.  They would be great at a kids party for favour baskets or filled with treats as part of the place settings at Easter dinner.

Diamond’s are a Birthday Boys Best Friend

Diamond Inspired Minecraft 6th Birthday Party

For my son’s 6th birthday party this year it was no surprise when he said he wanted a Minecraft theme.  Around the time he turned 5, he started to get interested in Minecraft from watching YouTube videos and began begging for months to get the Minecraft app for his ipad.  I was very hesitant to get it since he was younger then the recommended age and I assumed he would require a lot of help from me.  I finally let him download it in the Fall and since then have continued to be amazed by the things he builds and the knowledge he has gained from the game.  I still not sure I fully understand the whole concept, but I know it has been a lot of fun for him and was happy to use it as this year’s party theme. From Mario to Minecraft Basement Makeover

Minecraft Basement Makeover

You might recall the Mario inspired make-over I gave our basement walls last year before my son’s 5th Birthday Party.  His love of Mario is stronger then ever, but some of the paper images I had tacked up were coming down and looking worn so I decided to give the walls an update for his Minecraft themed party. DIY TNT Party Cups

DIY TNT Party Cups

I have expressed my love for the Solo brand Grips to Go! lidded cups in the past, and they continue to be a staple at many of my parties.  The lids, straws and cups all in one package are such a convenient buy, and I feel better knowing that drinks are contained and spills are minimized when entertaining a house full of small humans.

Minecraft TNT Party Cups

To match my Minecraft party theme, I decided to turn my cups into TNT.  The red cups provided the perfect background and I designed a simple black and white printable TNT label to fit around the middle of the cup.

Download the printable here: Minecraft TNT Cup Labels_DolledUpDesign

Once printed and cut, I simply attached each label to my cups using some good double sided tape on each end of the label.

The slightly squared shape of the Solo cups work well with the pixelated Minecraft theme and, with the addition of the straw into the cup, it even looks like a dynamite fuse.

Fun and functional!

Sweet Stacking Fun with Tsum Tsum’s

Jakks Pacific Tsum Tsum Easy Cupcake Toppers

Even though I love almost all things Disney, I will admit that I never understood the appeal of Tsum Tsum’s.  I didn’t understand the need to transform beloved characters into the odd flattened oval shapes and what people did with the toys beyond collect them to display on a shelf.

Then, I was given the opportunity to review Jakks Pacific‘s new line of Tsum Tsum figurines and learned that the word “Tsum” is actually Japanese for “stack”.  Finally the whole concept made a whole lot more sense to me!  The odd shapes of varying sizes were to allow for stacking of the toys in a myriad of combinations. Exploring Edmonton’s Ice Castle

Exploring Ice Castle's in Edmonton, Alberta

I admit I am not the best at getting my kids outside during the winter months.  Once the snow hits and the temperatures plummet below zero, I am more then happy to pay admission to the nearest indoor playground and happily sip my coffee in the warmth as the kids play.

This past Saturday the temperatures hovered close enough to the zero mark that we decided to embrace the cold and check out the Edmonton Ice Castle.  This spectacular frozen display is a man-built maze of icy castle walls built up in Hawrelak Park in the Edmonton River Valley. Easy DIY Handprint Snowman Christmas Cards

SONY DSC

Between my two children, we have 6 different teachers to buy Christmas gifts for this Holiday season.  My kids both love school and I think the teachers and aides play a big part in that so I wanted a small gift each to thank them for their efforts. Friday Favorites: Sing-A-Long Elsa

We had a lot of great moments on our trip to Disneyland this past February, but I think my absolute favorite moment was my 2 year old belting out her own rendition of Let it Go during the Frozen Sing-Along.
